Of the fruit and vegetable categories tested, the following "Clean 15" foods had the lowest pesticide load, and consequently are the safest conventionally grown crops to consume from the standpoint of pesticide contamination. It's worth remembering this list, as well as the Dirty Dozen - but wherever possible consider buying organic. There's such a huge demand for organic right now, that costs in the dollar sense are sometimes equal, if not just a little more. The more we demand organic as opposed to chemically treated food, the more organics will become more readily available. Buy local organic wherever you are able to do so. Search out little farms in and around your area. They are there - you simply need to discover them.
